Waterproof and Fade Proof Inkjet Printer

by Rupa

Thanks for these excellent tips. I would like to add that Epson XP420 class of printers use Durabrite inks that are water and fade proof. The printer is only $50 on Amazon and it's sufficient for most crafters that want to print images and use decoupage or other liquid media on it without the inks running. I love mine and surprisingly found that the images from this one are sharper than my trusted HP printer that I have bought more than once in the past decade.

Pigment vs. Dye Based Inks
by: Debbie-Anne

Like you mentioned Rupa, Epson's Durabrite cartridges are pigment inks as opposed to their dye based inks (which are also fade resistant and archival but not waterproof). While Epson does stand behind the water resistant quality of their pigment ink, this should be tested first as not all conditions (i.e. paper quality, collage medium etc.) will respond well.

I do love my Epson printers, I have both the Artisan 1430 and the XP-430 (which I use occasionally) and the image quality is superior to other brands of printers I've had as well.

Thank you for your comment!
