Sizing Your Paper

HI there,

I just started getting into this art...and for the life of me I can't seem to get the measurements right. So when I buy a digital kit that looks like if you cut it up the middle it would be half of a page but every time I try to cut it in half it's off! Then I though what could be easier than a wire bind it all system and then I could just focus my artistry on the cover. Even those measurements were off.

Is there a secret with these digital images? I just want to make an standard 5x7 journal but the images are either off center once cut to 5x7 Help!!!! Maybe you could suggest a really good tutorial that talks a lot about measuring your paper to fit your chip board or an altered book. I watched the tutorial on the altered book but there wasn't anything on measuring the signatures,

Thanks!

Suzanne

Sizing your paper
by: Jennifer

Hi There
I agree that it may be a printer setting, if you are using A4 or Letter size paper, make sure that your printer is set up to use the correct size. I also found that when select print, at the bottom of the page there is a check box called 'Fit picture to frame' - remove the tick. I have found that if the tick is on, it will 'cut off' the edges of my pages. Hope this helps

Hi Suzanne, I'm having a hard time understanding what you mean by 'it's off when you cut it in half'; I'm thinking this is a printer problem and that it's printing things off center on your paper? You could try finding your printer on your computer and right-clicking to get the drop-down menu, then settings and then find where you can 'reset defaults'. Then you want to tell the printer to print at 'actual size'.

Also on the altered book tutorial you wouldn't get info on signatures because no signatures are created in that style.

I am on Facebook so if you are too, I'd be happy to help more hands on and in real time via chat. I t would help if you could show me a photo of your off centered printed page, etc. You can find me under my name or Ephemera's Vintage Garden. Get in touch with me so we can figure this out and you can enjoy your digis fully! :)
