Can you recommend a good type of bookbinding thread?

by Christine

I'm a newbie who is just about ready to sew her signatures into her first book. I want something that is strong and will last. I'm curious about brand and types of thread.

Book binding thread

Good question and I am by no means an expert. I always use linen thread. It seems really strong and quite forgiving.

All the best for your junk journaling.

I use parachute thread. It is very strong! I bought a spool years ago, at a garage sale. I used it in doll making & now use it for book binding. I like that it is not bulky... It works great!

Hi Christine, I use waxed linen thread, or sometimes embroidery floss and crochet cotton. I find the linen thread to be the strongest.

There are some recommended brands here, as well as a few pamphlet stitch tutorials.

Have fun with your first book!
